A BRADFORD derby victory means TVR United are still clinging on to their West Riding County Amateur League title hopes.

The second-placed side took on mid-table Route One Rovers at home, knowing they needed a win to keep in chasing distance of top side Golcar United.

TVR were one goal ahead going into the break thanks to a goal from Mohammed Ismaeel.

The result was perhaps tighter than TVR would have liked, with the game eventually ending at 2-1 in the home side’s favour, a Haseeb Renman goal taking them over the line.

This keeps them seven points adrift of Golcar, who won their own match, but TVR do have two games in hand.

Golcar, playing their fifth game at home in a row, repeated the previous weekend’s score by smashing eight past Ovenden West Riding without reply.

The league’s leading scorer, Buddy Cox, increased his tally to 39 for the season with one for his side against Ovenden.

Ryan John and Alex Hallam both bagged braces, with one each from Doran Jordan, Kiero Lawrence and Dominic Moorhouse.

This extends Golcar’s winning run in the league to 12 games.

Steeton Reserves climbed above their visitors, Bradford Olympic, to sixth in the table after a convincing 5-0 win to put to bed any lingering disappointment at their early exit from the Keighley FA Cup the previous weekend.

They had five different goalscorers in the match: Greig Hudson, Casey Dowthwaite, Jack Morrell, Josh Debenham and Steeton’s top scorer, Will Knight.

The biggest surprise of the weekend’s Premier Division fixtures came from Toller.

The Bradford side, more accustomed to the lower end of the table this season, beat third-placed Lower Hopton 4-3 to put a dent in their hosts’ rapidly fading top two tilt.

Hopton actually had a 2-1 advantage at half-time, but conceded three in the second period to succumb to a defeat.

A Kamran Khan brace alongside goals for Taweed Ahmed and Luke Hepton did the business for Toller.

Josh Cooper, with two, and Dale Hanson were the goalscorers for Hopton.

A thrilling 10-goal encounter between fourth and fifth-placed Ryburn United and Littletown had everything, including a red card for Littletown substitute Kyle Fox.

It was honours even come the end at 5-5.

Ryburn had only two names on the scoresheet as Christian Silkstone scored a hat-trick and George Turner got a brace.

Luke Griffiths, Joe Jagger, Curtis McMahon, Mat Schofield and Paddy Sykes scored for the visitors.

P FC’s game against Lepton Highlanders was postponed.
