ECCLESHILL United have announced their promotion winning skipper is leaving to warmer climes.

Defender Sam Bradley, who led the side to NCEL Division One glory last season, is heading to Dubai with work meaning he leaves the club.

Bradley joined the Eagles at the end of the 2015/16 season and quickly found himself promoted to captaincy.

The skipper was due to play his final game for the club last night, but due to a frozen pitch the fixture against Albion Sports was postponed.

Another postponement for the same reason last weekend, means Bradley's last ever appearance came in the January 12 home win against Yorkshire Amateur.

Bradley shared a statement on social media.

He said: "As everyone knows football has been a massive part of my life and always will be. I would just like to thank everyone at Eccleshill who has made my journey with the club a special one.

"The club has come so far since I joined & to lead this team to promotion is a truly proud moment in my life which I will never forget.

"From the fans, players, volunteers, the manager, chairman, owners of the club & of course the media guys. You have all made this club feel like home."

Bradley leaves the side sitting in a healthy mid-table position and they won't play their next game until February 9.

Elsewhere in the Prem, Thackley managed a draw at Garforth Town.

They were ahead early on, when Adam Muller bagged a goal on the seventh minute, but an equaliser from Josh Robinson in the 69th meant the teams shared the spoils.

Thackley now leapfrog Albion Sports into 16th, after they lost 4-1 at home to Staveley Miners Welfare.

Liversedge still sit just above both Thackley and Albion Sports in 15th, despite a 4-2 loss to Maltby Main.

They did have the lead courtesy of an Emile Sinclair goal in the seventh minute, but Maltby responded quickly through Jordan Turner in the 15th, who went on to score a hat-trick.

Just below in Division One, leaders Campion took a hit to their title tilt with a 1-1 draw away to fellow challengers Nostell Miners Welfare.

In the Hallmark Security League Division One North, Steeton battled hard for a 3-3 draw with Ashton Town.

Steeton went ahead early when Ben Clarkson hit one home in the sixth minute, but they found themselves behind 2-1 in the 68th.

They were ahead again, by three goals to two, with 13 minutes to go, but an Antony Shinks penalty meant the honours were even.

Above in the Prem, Silsden suffered defeat at the hands of relegation threatened West Didsbury and Chorlton.

They remain 12th in the league, but will be disappointed to lose to two relegation candidates back-to-back.
