GUISELEY keeper Marcus Dewhurst made a string fantastic saves as Guiseley drew 1-1 against Hereford at a frosty Nethermoor on Tuesday.

The Lions spurned the chance to put some daylight between themselves and Hereford, who sat directly below them in the table, as Kayode Odejayi’s opener was cancelled out by Eliot Richards' equaliser.

After Saturday’s disappointing defeat, the home team showed three changes as Cliff Moyo and Will Hatfield both returned from injury while Paul Clayton started up front in place of Rowan Liburd, who dropped to the bench.

In a quiet first half Marcus Dewhurst pulled of an excellent save to deny Mike Symons early on before Odejayi produced the only other moment of note when he scored on 26 minutes with a clever backheel from Niall Heaton free-kick.

Clayton also went close on 35 minutes but his effort was the wrong side of the post.

The equaliser came two minutes into the second half when Symons shot took a wicked deflection to give Dewhurst no chance.

Shortly after, Dewhurst tipped Richards header on to the crossbar and over.

Substitute Alex Purver hussled Harvey Smith off the ball on the edge of the area to put fellow sub Liburd in but Matt Yates was quickly down to block his shot.

Dewhurst denied Hereford once again midway through the half as he managed to get a hand to George Lloyd's shot despite going the wrong way.

As the Lions went for the kill, Kingsley James' effort rebounded off Clayton and Will Thornton went very close with a header that drifted the wrong side of the post.

The ever-alert Dewhurst denied the Bulls a winner with a fantastic double save at the death but the truth is that this was two points wasted by the Lions against a side who looked to have little to offer in the first half but improved in the second.
