IT was a tale of county cup quarters joy and dismay for our local women's teams this weekend.

Three out of the four West Riding County Cup quarter final ties featured sides from the district on Sunday.

Most impressive were the Guiseley Vixens.

The holders had put five past visitors Altofts by half-time, with two goals each for Ellie Casper and Lauren Griffiths, as well as an early goal for Charlotte Gill.

Alarna Fuller made it six, straight after the break and Casper was able to secure a hattrick late into the game to give the Vixens a 7-0, taking them into the semis.

West Riding County Women Football League (WRCWFL) Premier side, Brighouse Athletic hosted Leeds United First.

A fine defensive effort held off their National League, Division One North, opponents for 25 minutes, but Leeds went through 3-0 in the end.

Neighbouring Brighouse Town had Lavinia Nkomo (2) and Emma Pilling score their first goals for the club in a 5-0 win over WRCWFL First Division leaders Ripon City.

Back in the league, there was a Bradford derby in the WRCWFL First Division.

Thackley Firsts took an away trip to Ilkley Town where they won 5-2, keeping them in the race at the top of the league.

Rebecca Gill and Cleo Oldham scored the two consolation goals for Town.

Skipton Town had a scrappy encounter at Dewsbury Rangers, but they move above Tyersal into sixth after Lauren Halliday's fine second-half header bagged them a 1-0 win.

In the division below, Thackley Reserves came from behind to beat Huddersfield Amateurs at home, meaning they close the gap on their visitors to one point with a game in hand.

Thackley were 1-0 down with an early goal from Huddersfield's acting captain Millie Ogden, but the home side ended up with a 2-1 win.

Phoenix put in a good all-round performance, with goals from Megan Medley and Ikra Ali against Ossett United Reserves.

But they eventually succumbed to lose 4-2.

Premier Division side Silsden are still without a win this season, following a 3-2 loss to Leeds Medics and Dentists, and remain firmly rooted to the bottom of the table.

There was two goals for Lucy Turner and a tremendous performance from keeper Olivia Cheetham, but the loss keeps them five points off the team above.
