THERE was a hattrick hero in a bottom of the table Bradford derby at the weekend.

Salts First, rooted at the foot of the table, visited fellow strugglers Wyke Wanderers knowing a win would see them leapfrog their hosts in the West Yorkshire Association Football League Premier.

Step forward Joseph Storey, who bagged three for Salts on the way to a 4-1 win for the side.

Harry Naylor got the other goal for the away side who are now joint on points with Knaresborough who sit just above them in the relegation zone.

But, Salts are now only five points off safety, with two games in hand on Sherburn White Rose who occupy that spot currently.

Several local sides put the league on hold at the weekend to take part in cup fixtures.

Premier high-flyers, Ilkley Town, took a trip to huge underdogs Otley Town Reserves in the Wharfedale & District FA Cup (WDFA).

Otley Reserves, who reside in the league structures bottom league - the Alliance Division Two - faced a huge task, despite a strong record in the league and having the home advantage.

This one proved a step too far, as Ilkley were 3-0 at half-time with one foot into the next round.

Things only got worse in the second when the visitors doubled their tally to finish the match at 6-0.

Otley's main side were also in action in the WDFA against fellow Division One side Pool.

Pool, below Otley in the league, knocked their visitors out of the competition thanks to a hattrick from Ryan Firth in a 3-1 win.

Down in Division Two, leaders Campion kept their title challenge going with a 3-2 at home to Old Centralians.

Jahro Parchment got all three goals for Campion before being subbed later in the second half.

They remain four points clear, despite pressure from second placed Glasshoughton Rock, who smashed Brighouse Old Boys 7-0.

Elsewhere in the division, Baildon Trinity Athletic lost 4-0 away to Altofts to keep them rooted at the bottom of the table, while Hunsworth also lost.

The 5-0 drubbing at home to Huddersfield YM leaves the side in the relegation zone, two points away from safety.

Field, in the Premier, and Oxenhope Recreation of Division One were both in action in their respective leagues.

Seventh placed Field lost 3-1 to Hunslet Club, creating an eight point gap between them and their visitors.

But, it was a win for Oxenhope who beat league leaders Boroughbridge 4-2.
