A 10 goal thriller at Southfield Grange School saw St Bedes pegged back several times before they eventually came through to secure three points keeping them in the title race.

The Yorkshire Amateur League Championship top of the table clash pitted second placed St Bedes against third placed Morley Town in a battle to get a grip on league leaders, Gildersome Spurs O.B.

A hard fought 6-4 win for St Bedes now means the side are joint first, for the time being, as Gildersome still have three games in hand.

Championship top scorer, Jermaine Moyce, hit the 20 goal milestone for the season at St Bede's, with a hat-trick which took the score to 5-3 in favour of his side and put to bed any Morley fightback that had been mooted in the game.

Twice they equalised, heading into the break at 1-1, before fighting back to 3-3 after conceding two, but St Bedes proved too much in the end despite Morley adding a fourth with two minutes to go.

Moyce's third, to make it 5-3, saw the forward slot the ball through the keeper's legs after being one-on-one.

Steve Drake, Sam Marshall and Joshua Moon were the other scorers for St Bede's.

There were quarter final ties for both Prospect and Fairbank United in this season's Hancock Cup - reserved for teams in Divisions Two and Three of the league.

It was a tight affair for midtable Division Two side, Fairbank United, at the home of Lepton Highlanders who sit bottom of the league below.

They dominated the first half but were caught out by a long throw just before half-time and were then perilously close to dropping out of the cup after falling behind by three, with 15 minutes to go.

Goals from Junaid Ali and Shoaib Hussain for the visitors gave them some hope, but with five minutes to go, Fairbank were unable to save the tie and the Highlanders will march on to the semis.

In contrast, Division Three Prospect ran out as the underdog winners in their match-up with Division Two side Garforth.

They now move onto the next stage courtesy of an away 7-1 win, with four goals from Jack Barker, one from Liam Goodaire, and one each for substitutes Kayden Allen and David Cardigan.

There was a feisty affair in the Premier Division after three players were sent off in one match - two with straight reds.

Ninth placed Athletico lost 3-2 at home to second place Drighlington in a game that swung both ways in either half, but the hosts didn't do themselves any favours with straight reds for Mohsin Arfan and Izatullah Ghaznewal.

The third red came for a Drighlington player after he received two yellows.
