CITY have signed Leeds centre half Paudie O'Connor on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old has been playing for Blackpool and was recalled early after featuring in their FA Cup loss to Arsenal on Saturday.

The 6ft 3in Irishman was signed by Garry Monk from Limerick in 2017 and has made four appearances for the club. He signed a two-year contract extension in the summer.

O'Connor played 17 games on loan at Blackpool with two goals. One was against Arsenal at the Emirates in the Carabao Cup in October before he was later sent off for a foul on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

City boss David Hopkin said: “He comes with a good reputation and we are looking forward to seeing him out on the field.

“Paudie is a physical defender, who loves to get stuck in and he will put everything on the line for us.

“He certainly adds greater competition for places, strengthening what we have at the back.”
