FIELD survived a major scare against Huddersfield YM, winning their West Riding County Challenge Cup fourth round clash 4-3 on penalties after playing out a 2-2 draw.

Huddersfield play in Division Two of the West Yorkshire League, while Field are sat comfortably in mid-table in the top flight.

League standings went out of the window for this cracking cup tie, with only the lottery of penalties eventually separating the sides.

Otley Town had the worst possible draw, as they faced Premier Division leaders Carlton Athletic and suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat.

Hosts Oxenhope Recreation were only 1-0 down at the break against Church Fenton but a flurry of second half goals saw the visitors emerge as 5-2 winners. Lee Reilly netted a consolation double for Oxenhope.

Meanwhile, Grassington United reached the quarter-finals of the cup for the first time in their history, as they edged out West Yorkshire League Division One side Featherstone Colliery 2-1.

The Craven outfit created a number of chances as the first half wore on and they went in front when Oscar Canny was felled in the box. Captain Jack Schindler smashed the penalty home to put his side 1-0 up.

Grassington keeper Jordan Harding performed wonders to keep his team ahead after the break and his teammates rewarded those efforts by going 2-0 in front.

Schindler played veteran striker Jan Ozdoba through on goal and he slotted home to double his side's advantage. Featherstone hit back with a late penalty, but could not find that crucial equaliser.

West Riding County Amateur League side Golcar United badly missed their injured prolific goalscorer Buddy Cox, and had only a first half penalty from Alex Hallam to show for their efforts as they lost 3-1 at home to Huddersfield Amateurs.

In the West Riding County Challenge Trophy, Idle thumped Springhead FC Reserves 8-0 to make serene progress into the last 16.

Tom Simonett bagged a hat-trick, while Jack Strudwick scored twice. There were further goals for Ash Maitland, Jonny Dearing and Luke Chandler.

West Yorkshire Alliance Division One leaders Field Reserves were knocked out of the Challenge Trophy by title rivals Whitkirk Wanderers Reserves, losing 4-2 at home in a thriller.

Elsewhere, Oxenhope Recreation Reserves were thumped 4-0 at Mount St Mary's, while it was also the end of the road for Brighouse Sports FC, who were knocked out by a 2-0 defeat to Robin Hood Athletic Reserves.
