CHRIS Clough and Rhys Green proved central characters in Bradford Salem’s 32-15 victory at Baildon in front of a healthy Boxing Day crowd.

Back-rower Green scored three tries, two of which were made by Clough, while the centre also made a try for debutant Ed King as well as scoring one himself.

Lock Ben Whitaker also crossed for the visitors, with Clough adding one conversion.

Baildon, who played uphill first, took the lead twice with tries by back-rower Zac Orrell and prop Sam Thompson but trailed 22-10 at half-time and could only add a second Orrell try down the slope.

Amesh Ahir looked lively in a rare appearance for Salem, who fielded veterans Dean McNicholl and Dave Atter, and the match ended with a head injury for Salem’s Jim Shaw after an accidental clash with former England international Dan Scarbrough.
