GUISELEY progressed into the County Cup Quarter Finals after a hard-earned win at National League neighbours Harrogate Town, with second half goals from Jo Cummings and Kayode Odejayi seeing the visitors through.

The Lions will be on familiar ground once again as they travel to Yorkshire Amateur for the Quarter Final tie in the New Year.

The victors will face the winners of the Knaresborough Town versus Barnoldswick Town game, which is being played this evening.

Guiseley fielded a strong line-up, with several tweaks to the usual formation and a back line that included Jack Dyche, Odejayi and Curtis Morrison alongside Cummings.

In a first half of few chances, the visitors created a couple of openings but in general there was very little for the 158 paying customers to get excited about.

Guiseley did look to have a valid claim for a penalty waved away though, as a defenders arm, rather than his head, looked to have cleared the ball from a corner kick.

The breakthrough came just before the hour as Cummings rose above a posse of players to head home a corner from the left and put the Lions ahead.

Odejayi then wrapped it up after some great work by Louis Walsh. The teenager shrugged off three defenders before laying the ball on a plate for the veteran striker to stroke home with twelve minutes remaining and seal the contest.
