THACKLEY AFC have teamed up with Ninety Plus and are offering a free course in CPR and Rescue Breathing, as well as a defibrillator use demonstration.

This Saturday, between 11am and 12 noon, Thackley will be opening its club house doors to offer anyone who wants to attend the chance to learn some key first aid skills.

Thackley are lucky to have a defibrillator available on match days, which can be found in the trusty hands of their match day physio Joe Tate.

The club has two other defibrillators in the community, one at Thackley Primary School and the other at Thackley Cricket Club.

Surveys have shown that only 22% of people in the UK would be confident in performing CPR on a stranger.

However, if the worst should happen and if a defibrillator and effective CPR is performed within 3-5 minutes of a cardiac arrest, the chances of survival can increase from six per cent to up to 90 per cent.

Thackley are therefore privileged to be able to offer the chance for everyone to attend their clubhouse on Saturday, ahead of their home league match with Penistone Church.

Course providers Ninety Plus are a team of specialists who are trained in providing recommendations on the most suitable defibrillators and where they should be located.

Ninety Plus have a community initiative whereby they are committed to installing 300 public access defibrillators nationwide within five years.

Thackley are encouraging all fans to take part in what should be an excellent and informative course.

While you would hope never to have to put those skills into use, Thackley and Ninety Plus hope to be able to provide attendees with the information they need to potentially help to save lives.
