ON a dreadfully stormy Saturday afternoon, the weather played havoc with the fixtures for the area’s semi-professional clubs and led to four postponements.

The highest profile casualty was Guiseley’s Vanarama National League North home game against Hereford.

It should have been a first visit to Nethermoor for the Bulls, but because of the distance the visitors had to travel, the clubs wanted an early decision and it was called off after an early morning pitch inspection.

Eccleshill United were due to host Albion Sports in a much-awaited Toolstation Northern Counties East Premier Division derby but that game was also shelved after a wet Friday, overnight rain and a stormy start to Saturday.

Liversedge had a 10am pitch inspection scheduled for their home game against basement boys Goole AFC in the same division and, as expected, the playing surface at Clayborn was unplayable.

Cougar Park was also waterlogged which prevented Steeton hosting Ashton Town in Hallmark Security League Division One North.
