CLECKHEATON have a golden opportunity to climb the table tomorrow.

The Moorenders, who are only one place and one point above a relegation berth in North One East, could be as high as seventh if they beat sixth-placed Percy Park at home and other results go their way.

“Three of the four teams immediately above us are playing teams from the top four away from home (Huddersfield YMCA v Morley, Bradford & Bingley v Bridlington and Scarborough v Malton & Norton)” explained Cleckheaton’s head coach Thiu Barnard.

Cleckheaton, who bounced back from handing Consett their first win of the season with a 30-17 derby victory at Morley last weekend, have lock Ryan Piercy back in the mix.

Bradford & Bingley’s supremo Anthony Posa, whose side prefer firmer turf, is nevertheless trying to build a team for all seasons.

Six successive victories have catapulted the Bees up to fourth, and they have Ali Macdonald, Aaron Magee and Roger Raper back in contention to face Brid.

Posa’s team won 29-12 at Malton & Norton last weekend, with the coach adding: “It is 10 to 20 per cent harder to win away from home in this division, and we played the conditions pretty well.”

Draw specialists Bradford Salem are picking from strength as they host second-placed Old Crossleyans in Yorkshire Division One.

The home side, who are eighth and have drawn two of their last four, have Will Collins, Kristan Dobson, Chris Clough, Ryan Smith and, hopefully Christian Baines, back.

Keighley, with Danny McGee back in the head coach role, also have Halifax opposition in third-placed Heath away.

The visitors are 12th, but have won two of their last three as they bid to climb away from the nether regions, while Heath have won their last seven.

Two out-of-form sides meet in Yorkshire Division Two, with 12th-placed Ripon at home to Old Grovians, who are one place higher.

Ripon have been bested in four of their last five outings, while Grovians have lost their last two.

Basement boys Baildon have a must-win game at home to Leeds Modernians in Yorkshire Division Three.

Baildon’s only win out of 12 so far was at home to next-to-bottom Aireborough, but Mods are only third from bottom and three points better off than the Jenny Laners.

In contrast, there is a top-of-the-table clash in Yorkshire Division Four North West, with leaders Wibsey at second-placed Knaresborough.

The Villagers, who have already beaten Borough 24-16 at Northfield Road in October, have Jamie Vogel at centre after he successfully tested his hamstring in last weekend’s second-team match against Salem.

Wibsey (at Knaresborough): B Wright; B Mpofu, J Vogel, N Marchant, R Moore; A Robinson, K Carter; S Birkbeck, J Brown, J Bradbury, E Cousins, M Grimes, M Darragh, M Kite, J Tordoff. Replacements: R Simpson, L Wilson, A Rose, S Foulds, D Carr.
