KEIGHLEY’S very own Warrior Woman, Jackie Harper, competed in the world-renowned International Mixed Martial Arts Federation's (IMMAF) World Championships.

She was matched against the eventual winner of the event, Daria Samchik, and despite securing a tight arm lock and almost nailing a triangle choke in the second round, Harper lost via judges' decision after the fight went the distance.

Harper was the only fighter at the event that took the champion to the final bell and also the only competitor that looked anywhere near finishing the Ukrainian fighter at the tournament held in Bahrain.

Undeterred, Harper has now set her sights on next month's European Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships in Portugal as well as further developing her Warrior Woman program at Aire Valley Martial Arts.

Her Warrior Woman program has been gaining momentum for five years and recently started taking on younger members aimed at giving teen and pre teen girls an outlet for health and fitness martial arts and self defence.

You can keep up with Jackie’s progress on the Warrior Woman Facebook page and attend any of her classes at Aire Valley Martial Arts.
