BULLS starlets Rowan Milnes and Keelan Foster have the chance to step up their development on the international stage tonight.

The Odsal duo are in the Yorkshire academy squad for their game against Australia schoolboys at Castleford.

The white rose youngsters, coached by former England star Luke Robinson, are heavily dominated by Leeds Rhinos with eight players selected from Headingley.

But the Bulls representation is another feather in the cap for the club’s on-going production line.

Eighteen-year-old prop Foster has been identified as a promising talent for the future.

Half-back Milnes, who is a year older, has already dipped his toe into senior rugby under John Kear.

The former St Bedes pupil signed a three-year part-time contract in 2017 and made his first-team debut on Boxing Day with a 20-minute cameo in a friendly against Halifax.

He then went on to make two appearances in League One in May in wins over Newcastle Thunder and London Skolars.

Milnes admits his game has come on from training alongside the likes of Dane Chisholm and Joe Keyes with the senior team.

He has made his mark in the under-19s and reserve grade and was picked for the “war of the roses” academy game. The Bulls coaching staff will be keen to see how he copes against the best in his age group from Australia.

Head of youth John Bastian said: “Rowan’s an intelligent, play-making stand-off half who has shown a great deal of maturity this year.

"He has featured in the first team and has been working with John Kear to develop his game further. He’s still got another year in the under-19s to go so that shows how well he is developing.

“Rowan is just the right sort of person we want at the club and he has a very strong supportive family behind him. He’s still learning the game and developing physically.”

Tonight’s game at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle is the first tour match for the Down Under youngsters.

They face Lancashire on Saturday before playing two Tests against their England counterparts.
