HAVING already claimed the scalp of Drighlington, St Bedes continued their progress in the Yorkshire Old Boys Shield as they beat East Riding County League side AFC Bilton 3-2 at home.

Despite going behind, St Bedes levelled when an Alex Green shot was fumbled and the irrepressible Jermaine Moyce was on hand to score.

Man of the match Green then went on a solo run and dinked over the keeper to put Bedes ahead 2-1. Moyce added a third with a typical opportunist goal to give them a comfortable half-time lead.

Bilton added a second from a free-kick but Bedes weathered the storm to set up a quarter-final tie with Yorkshire Amateur League Championship rivals Leeds City in the quarter-finals.

Horsforth St Margaret's cruised into the next round with a 4-0 home win over Garforth Crusaders thanks to a James Watson hat-trick and a goal from Laurence Patterson to set up a tie at Stanley United in the quarter-final.

The match of the day in the Yorkshire Amateur League Premier Division saw champions Drighlington win 3-2 at Calverley.

The away side broke the deadlock when a corner rebounded to Chris Lee, who punished the error to give Drig a 1-0 half-time lead.

Shane Sowden doubled the advantage before Calverley rallied when a Dale Spink cross found leading scorer Matty Wilson to reduce the deficit and Wilson then restored parity with a volley.

Drig were always a threat on the break and Joe Hirst fired home the winner for the visitors.

There was another important three points for third-placed Idle in Division One, who battled hard to get the better of eighth-placed visitors Beeston Juniors 4-3.

The early domination by Idle led to goals from Tom Simonett and Tom Holmes. Beeston drew level but the hosts regained their composure with Conor Halligan putting them ahead 3-2 at the break.

A cracking Jack Strudwick effort smashed against the cross bar but Idle man of the match Simonett was on hand to make it 4-2 before Beeston pulled one back.

In an evenly poised Division Two contest, Fairbank had to dig deep to gain a 3-2 success at home to Shire Reserves.

Fairbank scored first after a jinking run from Shoaib Hussain but Shire hit back to lead 2-1. Shire sought a third goal but Fairbank substitute Muaaz Khan hit a cannonball to level matters before Hussain notched his second to clinch victory for the Bradford side, which left them in fifth.

Idle-based Prospect are now sixth after a 5-1 win at Farnley Sports in Division Three. Jordan Farrell opened the scoring for Prospect, latching on to a through pass by Stephen Thwaites. Soon it was 2-0 thanks to Sam Riley's well-placed free-kick and increased to 3-0 when unmarked Jack Barker headed home after good work by Farrell.

Farnley pulled one back in the second half but Prospect restored their three-goal advantage with Thwaites' clever pass opening up a gap for Barker's second goal before Barker completed his hat-trick from the spot.
