AN excellent second-half display saw Brighouse Town to a comfortable 4-1 home victory over Lincoln United as fourth hosted second in the Evo-Stik League East Division.
The hosts went closest in the goalless first half as they were denied a lead by a post while Rob Norris had Lincoln United’s best effort.
The Whites struck an early opener in the second half with Matt Wilson opening the scoring but Town hit back almost immediately.
Former Albion Sports midfielder Adam Jones drilled a superb strike from the edge of the area into the bottom corner past Whites’ keeper Michael Emery and two goals inside a seven-minute spell either side of the hour mark put Brighouse firmly in control.
They took the lead when Aaron Martin blocked a clearance from Emery and he threaded through for Mohammed Ibrahim to slot home.
Town skipper Adam Field added the third after heading down a Sam Wright cross before scrambling the ball past Lincoln’s keeper.
Emery was beaten a fourth time but he had no chance of stopping substitute Tom Robinson’s superb long-range strike from from nestling into the top corner.
Brighouse remain fourth in the table while Lincoln stay in second spot, but the gap between the sides is now down to two points and Town have two games in hand on their promotion rivals.
