ONCE again it was twelve-year-olds Cameron Green and Hermione Roe who stole the limelight for City of Bradford Swimming Club at the Stockport Metro November Meet.

Roe, from Addingham, took centre stage on the rostrum in the 50m and 100m breaststroke, 100m and 200m individual medley and 50m freestyle.

She went on to place second in the 200m breaststroke, fourth in the 14 years and under Skinz event, fifth in the 100m freestyle, and eighth in the 50m butterfly.

Green powered his way to victory in the 50m and 100m backstroke and 50m breaststroke, finishing second in the 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle and third in the100m butterfly, 200m backstroke and 200m individual medley. He also competed in the Skinz event, finishing in eighth place.

Fifteen-year-old Archie Minto, from Burley-in-Wharfedale, was City’s other gold medallist with a time of 2.12.38 in the 200m butterfly. He took the gold medal and gained a new National Winter Qualifying time.

He also placed second in the 100m butterfly. His time of 2.13.47 in the 200m backstroke gained him a further qualifying time and placed him sixth.

To round off a great weekend's swimming, he claimed seventh in the 200m individual medley, eighth in the 100m backstroke and ninth in the 400m medley.

Other finalist were Maya Griffiths (3), Gracie Beaumont (3), Cameron Mander (2), Simran Mander (2) and Naomi Calvert (2).

All swimmers train on the Bradford Aquatics Competition programme under the guidance of coaches Andy Pearce and Sarah Fisher.

Elsewhere, a squad of City’s emerging talent competed in the Sheffield City Memorial B Grade long course meet held at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.

City’s swimmers were on top form, claiming six golds, ten silvers and eleven bronze medals and an additional 44 top ten finishes. Swimmers also swam personal best times and gained Yorkshire Championship qualifying times in doing so.

Gold medals went to Keira Hinchcliffe, Fraser Buxton (2), Oscar Hobson, Joshua Jones and Sam Akers.

Silver medals went to Abigail Naylor (2), Keira Hinchcliffe (2), Joshua Jones (2), and Sam Akers, Angus Twigger, Harris Khaliq and Oscar Hobson claimed one silver medal each.

Two bronze medals went to Oscar Hobson, while swimmers with one bronze medal to their credit were Jasmine Shay, Abigail Naylor, Keira Hinchcliffe, Holly Vasey, Harris Khaliq, Matty Jo-Joe Wilson, Jamie Connolly, Angus Twigger and Fraser Buxton.
