FARSLEY are to challenge their punishment for conceding the Priestley Cup final.

All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League chairman David Young told their annual meeting at Cleckheaton Sports Club: “We think that we have applied the rules correctly but Farsley think that we haven’t applied the rules correctly.”

Farsley, with several players unavailable after the initial postponement on Sunday, August 26, forfeited the final that night – it was re-arranged for the following day – fearing that their replacements would not be up to the job.

Young said: “A one-year ban from the competition was increased to four years – it is the first time the final has not been played, including two world wars, and it started in 1904.

“We also fined Farsley £25, awarded the league costs of £475 and awarded cup final hosts Undercliffe £1500 (to recompense them for loss of revenue), and asked Farsley to apologise to the league, which they have refused to do.

“We feel that we are on solid ground legally.”

Meanwhile, the league’s cricket development officer Alan Birkinshaw revealed that Yorkshire Cricket Club have allowed the Yorkshire Cricket Board to stage their 2019 pyramid final there on September 14, despite an incident during this season’s final between Wakefield Thornes and Great Ayton.

The only rule alteration was that the Bradford League’s management board have been given the power to tidy up the Bradford League’s rules, with the amended version being sent to clubs by January 31.
