BRADFORD City Women face three away games out of the next four fixtures in three different competitions, starting tomorrow with a trip across the Pennines to face Fylde in the league.

The Bantams will be buoyed by their 3-0 County Cup win at home to neighbours Thackley, and will be hoping to use the result to boost confidence in the camp as they battle to avoid relegation.

City made changes in personnel and formation last Sunday, moving from a back three to a more traditional 4-4-2 and making good use of the pacy wingers Shirley Murphy and Rosie Gill.

Sinead Ord made her first start for City, with a solid performance alongside Hannah Shuttleworth in midfield. The Bantams defence remained resolute throughout, with experienced pairing Harriet Jakeman and Jen Clark working well alongside youngsters Maisie Norde and Charlotte Sales.

Keeper Aimee Routledge also took confidence from her first clean sheet of the season.

Bradford coaches Toni Butcher and Meg Lawson will be hoping to establish a settled team now after a number of long-term injuries.

City will be without forwards Demi Pringle, Keegan Lambert and Olivia Taylor for the foreseeable future, giving the new recruits and younger players a chance to step up. Jade Brindle led the line well with Robyn Harris last Sunday, the former opening the scoring from the penalty spot.

Fylde currently sit sixth in the FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division, having beaten City’s relegation rivals Doncaster Belles 4-0, then followed by a 2-2 draw away at Middlesbrough.

Last weekend they claimed a 3-1 win on penalties at home to Bolton in the County Cup.

City captain Jakeman knows the importance of momentum and said “We need to take the confidence built from our cup games into the league and produce the football we know how to play.

“The girls keep fighting every week and deserve some results, but we have to go and earn it this Sunday against a very difficult side."

The Bantams’ Development side are also heading west tomorrow as they travel to Blackburn Rovers.

Meanwhile, Bradford (Park Avenue) are hoping to get back to winning ways in the West Riding Premier Division, when they host leaders Yorkshire Amateur at Horsfall.

Silsden have a hard task as they welcome second-placed Hepworth United at Keighley Road.

There is a local derby in the First Division as Tyersal take on Thackley at Arkwright Street.

Last week, Tyersal lost 3-0 to Skipton, who recorded their first points of the season through Jess Wootton, Corina Riley and Jess Ogden.

Skipton moved off the bottom above Boroughbridge, whom they play tomorrow, and Leeds City.

In the Second Division,  Phoenix travel the short distance to  Woodhall Lane to play Farsley Junior firsts after both had good games in the County Cup.

Phoenix beat Silsden on penalties, and Farsley held off Regional Premier Division side Harrogate Town to a half-time 1-0 deficit, before going out 4-0.

Thackley reserves play struggling  Garforth Rangers at Apperley Lane.
