THE top two teams in Division Three of the Bradford League, Hermits F and Rastrick, went head to head and there was nothing to separate them after a topsy turvy encounter ended in a 5-5 draw.

Rastrick were without their star player, Mick Whitham, who has a 100 per cent record, while Hermits number one Peter Eccles was looking to extend his unbeaten start to the season.

Hermits made a great start as Eccles, Glenn Ellis and Tom Sampson put them 3-0 up.

Rastrick began their recovery when Ronnie Maystone pipped Eccles 11-9 in the fifth to spoil his perfect record and he and Brian Banks both won twice to leave their side trailing 5-4, before the pair ensured parity with a 3-2 doubles win.

The comeback leaves Rastrick three points behind Hermits, for whom Eccles and Ellis won twice each, while Sampson added a single.

In Division Two, Hermits B maintained their unbeaten record but lost top spot after being held to a 5-5 draw by Highdale B.

Hermits were always ahead as Fazal Hussain won three and Greg Hill took two, but Highdale would not be denied as Phil Mann won twice. Gary and James Foster also won one each before combining to win the doubles and salvage a draw.

Hermits C took over in top spot by one point as they overcame Pudsey B. Louis Bigallet and Sarfraz Khan were both unbeaten and Tony McGowan won once too as Hermits C recorded an 8-2 victory.
