DARREN Tetley is hoping to make up for lost time as he targets another fight in Bradford early next year.

Tetley (17-0), from Holme Wood, marked his first professional bout in his home town with a points win over William Warburton on Saturday night.

Now, he’s looking to build on the momentum of his passionate home crowd and wants to remain active with another contest at the Bradford Hotel, potentially in February.

“I’m going to have break over Christmas then I want to box in February in Bradford and be back out again in a big fight in either April or May,” Tetley revealed.

“The reception for my last fight was unbelievable and I can’t wait to come back and do it all over again.

“I’d love to fight for the British title or defend my WBO European title. I just wish fights were made like that (clicks fingers).

“I trust my manager, Michael Marsden, and I’ll fight whoever he says. After Christmas, I’d love to fight here again in February and keep active, rather than go from now until May again.

“I’ve spoke to Chris Aston, co-promoter of Saturday’s show, and he said that's when the next show could be. Hopefully I can get on it.”

In terms of specific names, Tetley revealed that he spoke to Huddersfield’s former British champion Tyrone Nurse in his warm-up, who has just made the move to welterweight alongside Tetley.

“I said to Tyrone when I was warming up, ‘at the end of the day, you’ve got an eliminator and if you win that you’ve got a British title fight.’

"Is he going to be thinking about me at the minute? No,” said Tetley.

“I hope he wins his fight against Liam Taylor on Saturday because I like Tyrone, he’s a top fella. We both know boxing is a business. Personally, I hope he does go on to win the British title.”

Prior to the fight, Tetley announced that he had linked up with the Five Nine Agency, working alongside former Bradford City chief operating officer James Mason to help build his commercial interests.

“I’ve recently joined the Five Nine agency with James Mason and I believe that I’ve got a good team around me now.” said Tetley.

“Before, I didn’t really believe in agencies and I thought people who had them were too big for their boots. But now I realise the business side of the sport.

“It’s great to have people around me that understand that side and can help me grow outside the ring.

"They’re supporting me in my promotion and sponsorship and making sure that I’m looked after and earning money outside the ring.

“James Mason is massive in Bradford and with him behind me, I’ve got the feeling that I can go all the way now and the sky’s the limit.”

“I’ve also got to thank my long-time sponsors Diamond’s Barber Shop, Tan Tastique, Blue Hills Farm, as well as Napoleon’s Casino, who have recently joined me.”
