TWO struggling League One teams have parted company with their managers today, with the departure of Shrewsbury's John Askey following news that Neil Ardley has left AFC Wimbledon by mutual consent.

Askey - who had been linked with the Bantams job in the summer - won four of 17 league matches with the 18th-placed Shrews after leaving Macclesfield to replace Paul Hurst during the close season.

Assistant manager John Filan and first-team coach George Pilkington have also left the club, with goalkeeping coach Danny Coyne taking over on a temporary basis.

Meanwhile, Ardley, who was appointed by the Dons in October 2012, has left along with assistant manager Neil Cox.

First-team coach Simon Bassey has been placed in temporary charge of the struggling League One club, who are second bottom in the table - one point above the Bantams.

Wimbledon chief executive Erik Samuelson said: "Neal has been a credit to the club in everything he has done.

"He leaves with my personal thanks and gratitude for what he has done in his time here at AFC Wimbledon."

The Dons booked their spot in today's second-round FA Cup draw with a 1-0 win at Haringey Borough.

His exit comes less than 24 hours after Swindon sacked first-team manager Phil Brown.

Town edged past non-league York in the FA Cup on Saturday - their first home win since September - but they languish 17th in League Two following a run of one win in eight matches.
