FARSLEY Celtic face a testing replay in Nottingham on Wednesday night after only earning a disappointing 0-0 home draw in their FA Trophy second qualifying round tie against Carlton Town.

The Celts play their football in the higher tier of the Evo-Stik League and they had already knocked neighbours Brighouse Town out of the competition with a 4-1 win at Throstle Nest.

On this occasion though, they could not get past Brighouse’s Division One East rivals Carlton.

Adam Lakeland’s men dominated possession and the chance count but they ran into a determined side with a keeper on top form.

The Millers’ Jack Steggles put in an inspired display and thwarted the Celts’ best attempts to get the tie put to bed at the first time of asking.

The Celts had some early chances without troubling Steggles and his first proper save did not come until the 17th minute, when Nathan Cartman tried to find the corner of the net.

Farsley skipper Danny Ellis fired wide following a corner and Cartman had a shot blocked on the line as the hosts continued to press.

Deliveries from Lewis Turner were proving to be a threat but even when Steggles was beaten, Cartman turning in a low centre from Turner, the offside flag came to the Millers’ rescue.

Carlton had a late first half sight of Kyle Trenerry’s goal but Henry Rollinson fired over.

Into the second period, Steggles made saves to deny Chris Atkinson, Adam Clayton, Paul Walker, Will Hayhurst, Jimmy Spencer and Chris Atkinson.

But the visitors’ Josh Kwadu had a shot blocked on the line by the home defence and Carlton also had the ball in the net from an offside position.

The draw means that it is all to play for at Stoke Lane in the replay on Wednesday.
