BRADFORD City Women travel to South Yorkshire this weekend to take on Doncaster Rovers Belles in a real six-pointer at the bottom of the FA Women’s Northern Premier Division.

City sit rock bottom, still without a league win, with Belles directly above them on three points. Sunday's game could prove to be the Bantams' most crucial fixture so far.

If they can beat their relegation rivals and capitalise on their game in hand, they can start looking to chase down Sheffield FC and Nottingham Forest, who sit in 11th and 10th respectively.

Bradford went down 3-1 at home to Hull City last weekend in a tough contest that saw Jess Dunlop’s outrageous long-range lob go straight onto the list of goal of the season contenders.

The visitors were three goals down but the substitute provided some cheer when she spotted the visitors’ keeper off her line and thumped the ball first time back over her from 35 yards.

City skipper Harriet Jakeman is aware of how big this weekend’s game is.

She said: “It’s probably the most important game of the season. We need to start playing the way we know we can. "We deserve more than our last couple of results but we need to work for it. Nothing is a given in this tough league."

The Bantams will go into the game without Olivia Taylor and Kayley Hird, who are both still on the treatment table. But Sian Wilson, Jade Brindle and Bryony Hanson should all be fit.

Coaches Meg Lawson and Toni Butcher are still waiting on the fitness of defender Charlotte Sales following her training injury two weeks ago.

City’s Development side travel north to Durham on Sunday. They will be looking to pick themselves up after their depleted side was on the end of an 11-0 thumping at home to Blackburn Rovers last weekend.

Coach Jamie Grand is hoping to see the benefits of the ongoing recruitment process and a return to fitness of key squad memebers. He said: “We are hoping to have a few more players available as we travel north to face another talented team in Durham."
