THE SHIRTS worn for City’s FA Cup first round game against Aldershot will feature Motor Neurone Disease Association branding.

This comes following a fantastic gesture by Bantams ambassador Simon Hartley, who has donated the sleeve position he won as part of a corporate draw.

More than a dozen of the club’s commercial partners entered the raffle-styled competition and Hartley’s Richton Consulting came out on top.

Following the result, he requested for the sponsorship to be donated to the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Hartley said: “As soon as we heard the news we had won the draw, we immediately offered the position to the charity.

“The fundraising efforts towards motor neurone disease, following the news Stephen Darby had been diagnosed with the illness, have been fantastic and we wanted to help in any way we could.

“Stephen is a Bradford City legend and hopefully this will help raise much-needed awareness for the disease - on a national stage.”

Mandy Metcalfe is a regional fundraising manger for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

She added: “We are so grateful to the generosity of Simon and his company for giving us the opportunity to have our logo on the Bradford City players’ shirts for upcoming FA Cup matches.

“This is the kind of awareness that money cannot buy and gives us as the MND Association the chance to spread awareness of this brutal disease that kills six people every day.

“It also encourages people to get involved in the work we do supporting those living with the disease and funding research for treatment and, ultimately, a cure.”

The Motor Neurone Disease Association branding will feature on City’s shirts for the first round of the FA Cup and, if successful on Saturday, for the second stage of the competition.
