KIERAN Suddards helped himself to a hat-trick as visitors Field hammered Leeds Modernians 8-2 in the West Riding County Challenge Cup Second Round.

Dominic Staunton netted twice, with Tom Ponter, Eli Petschak and Glyn Hirst also scoring as the West Yorkshire League Premier Division side put their second tier opponents to the sword.

Ilkley Town also impressed, as they thumped Hunslet Club 5-2. Matt Whitehead bagged a brace and Tom Smith also scored.

Substitutes Harry Brown and Toby Harris came off the bench to net a goal apiece to give the scoreline an impressive flourish.

Salts are rock-bottom in the top flight, and they were humbled 3-2 in the cup at home by their Division Two opponents Huddersfield YM.

The hosts were 2-0 up at the break but a stunning second half comeback by Huddersfield left the Bradford side down and out.

Harry Fryer netted for Rawdon Old Boys in their 1-1 draw with Grassington United, but it was the Craven League side who progressed after a 5-4 shootout success.

Meanwhile, Wyke Wanderers' clash with Sowerby Bridge was abandoned.

Thomas Marshall and Scott Nelson were both on target as Oxenhope Recreation continued their good form with a 2-0 win at Stanningley Old Boys.

The Division One outfit had to weather the domination of their opponents but were efficient in attack.

Pool also faced a Yorkshire Amateur League side in Gildersome Spurs Old Boys and they scored two late goals to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 victory.

Otley Town won 2-0 at Drighlington but they were indebted to a missed penalty by their opponents just after the interval when the scores were level.

Elsewhere, Campion went top of Division Two after they edged out Altofts 2-1 in their game in hand over former leaders Glasshoughton Rock.

Christopher Hellewell and Dillon Hollinger were the men on target for Campion in a tight contest.

Hunsworth were less successful as they were thrashed 6-2 at Shelley. Kyle Wilcock and Dale Wright were both on target for the visitors, but they fell woefully short in the end.

In the West Riding County Trophy, Baildon Trinity Athletic lost 1-0 to Horbury Town and in the same competition, Alliance Division One side Field Reserves won on penalties after a thrilling 3-3 draw against AFC Illingworth St Marys

Tom Lambert added to John Penn's brace in normal time, before Field emerged as 3-1 winners in the shootout.
