Bradford (Park Avenue) manager Mark Bower is thrilled that his whole squad continues to chip in with vital contributions and he has backed them to do the business again when they visit sleeping giants York City tomorrow.

Avenue visit Bootham Crescent looking to consolidate their place in the top three of the Vanarama National League North, and Bower knows that he can rely on just about everyone at his disposal.

Squad players Oli Johnson and Nicky Clee grabbed Bradford's goals in the 2-2 draw with Darlington on Tuesday and Bower enthused: "Oli and Lewis Knight have come into into the side and deservedly kept their places.

"Nicky came on at left back against Darlington after Danny Lowe went off injured. He did a good job there at times last season and he performed on Tuesday too.

"Alex Hurst came off the bench to grab a goal on his debut at Nuneaton and Adam Nowakowski did the same earlier in the season to equalise against Stockport.

"As the pitches change, we'll try different line ups and approaches to games and we have the versatile squad to do that."

Bower needs everyone to fire against York tomorrow, and he knows his former side are capable of more.

He said: "A club of their size, with the players they've got, will be disappointed to be where they are.

"I've been at Bradford City when we were a league or two lower than than the fans expected, and it can be a bad atmosphere when you're not performing.

"York have quality players though and if we play like we did in the first 20 minutes against Darlington we'll be struggling."

Bower was pleased with how Bradford recovered from quickly going 2-0 down on Tuesday. He felt they deserved more than Johnson and Clee's goals, while admitting he was aggrieved that they were denied a couple of penalties for handball.

Avenue gave away a spot kick themselves, but keeper Steven Drench pulled off a stunning save.

His manager laughed: "He's told me we need to stop giving away so many penalties. Their player struck it well but he read it and was at full stretch when he made the save.

"It was no accident and he's done it for years. He's great with his kicking and keeping clean sheets too, so he's a real all-rounder."

York have not scored yet against any of this season's top seven and Bower hopes they can stop that rot soon.

He said: "I enjoyed my time there and it was a learning curve that helped with my career.

"It's sad to see them down here but they'll soon have their new ground and hopefully they turn it round this season. Ideally after this weekend though."
