STEPHEN Denny made his first appearance of the season for Highdale A in their Division One fixture at Unity A and guided them to a 6-4 victory which takes them up to third place in the table.

Graham Manicom put Highdale ahead in the opener with a 14-12 fifth game win over Steve Whitaker but he had to concede his other two singles due to injury.

Denny showed his class with 3-0 wins over Neil Harris and Whitaker while Mick Stead also won his first two for Unity.

Yonaton Caspi put Highdale 4-2 up after beating Harris before Denny and Stead squared up in a crucial encounter.

Denny took the first two but Stead levelled at 2-2 and in a cliffhanging decider, Denny won 13-11 to put Highdale within sight of victory, before Caspi clinched the points in the last singles against Whitaker.

In Division Two, Embassy Yeadon D stayed in touch with unbeaten leaders Hermits C after a solid team success against Baildon A.

Ian Warner was again in fine form for Baildon, winning all his three to take his tally to 14 from 15 but the Embassy Yeadon trio of Rod Robertson, Martin Connolly and Peter Clarkson all won twice as Embassy Yeadon were 7-3 victors.

The top two teams in Division Four met, with leaders Hermits I having home advantage against Baildon D.

It was Hermits who came out on top and stretched their lead as George Raine starred with three wins. Stewart Varley and Mick Raine both won twice with Shirley Toulmin on the mark for Baildon with two singles. .
