LIVERSEDGE enjoyed an astonishing 10-2 victory at home to Armthorpe Welfare in the NCEL League Cup third round last night.

Joe Walton and Danny Farrar both claimed hat-tricks as the Clayborners showed no mercy to their visitors, who are ninth in the division below their hosts in the Northern Counties East League.

Adam Dennison (2), Jacob Buchanan and Rhys Davies were also on target, with only two late consolations sparing Welfare - who had Darren Mansaram sent off in the first half - a ten-goal whitewash.

FARSLEY ensured they are in the draw for the third round of the Integro League Cup after overcoming Evo-Stik East Division Frickley Athletic on penalties.

Former Celt Jacob Hazel had put Frickley ahead on 55 minutes, only for George Hornshaw to level the scores nine minutes later.

With neither side able to find a winner in 90 minutes, the game went straight to penalties. With both sides converting their first four penalties, Ben Algar had his spot-kick saved by Farsley's Ed Hall, leaving Danny Ellis to slot home and send them into the last 16 of the competition.

SILSDEN were unable to bounce back from a 5-0 hiding by 1874 Northwich as they lost 2-0 at in-form Bootle in the Hallmark Security League Premier Division.

Skipper Josh Kaine was sent off after a coming together with Bootle's Ryan Cox in the first half.

And the Merseysiders capitalised with two goals in the second half. On 69 minutes, Cox intercepted a header from Joe Gaughan to make it 1-0 before Steven Jones volleyed home from Steven Hoy's ball.

The hosts' victory saw them leapfrog Danny Forrest's side into fourth place.
