CITY are having a look at versatile free agent Paul Caddis.

The 30-year-old, who can play right back and right or centre midfield, trained with them yesterday and will continue all week.

With Kelvin Mellor and Joe Riley both injured, David Hopkin does not have a specialist right back available and sees Caddis as a potential replacement.

Hopkin said: "Paul came in yesterday and we'll see how things transpire over the week.

"We need an option because obviously Kelvin's going to be out for a while and Joe Riley is out for three to four weeks.

"Paul came play a number of positions and having a couple of utility players is what we've been lacking."

Capped once by Scotland in 2016, Caddis spent five years with Birmingham. He joined Bury for the second half of the 2016-17 season before signing for Blackburn.

He made 14 league appearances in their League One promotion campaign but left by mutual consent at the end of the August transfer window.

Meanwhile, Adam Chicksen is set to return to training today after his injury lay-off. The left back could be in contention to rejoin the squad for the Portsmouth game at the weekend.
