WAYNE Bennett says he wants to see the Bulls return to Super League and is delighted with their progress.

The England head coach spoke warmly of his memories of the club's past, including under their previous name of Bradford Northern, and said it was "tragic" that they were relegated from the top flight.

He added that some of his England staff, including team manager and former Bulls favourite Jamie Peacock, and players, such as Tom Burgess, speak highly of their time at Bulls when they gather for international fixtures.

Bennett also said that stability is key for any club to succeed and hopes the top flight of the domestic game isn't too far away again for Bulls.

Speaking at a question and answer evening at Odsal, Bennett said: "I first came here to Bradford in 1992.

"Five or six of the players in my England squad played here. Jamie Peacock was here, he won three Premierships here. The only club they all talk about is Bradford Northern.

"It was tragic for the Super League what happened here at Bradford. The club has a great history and I am pleased that they are working their way back towards it.

"They are going to be a lot stronger when they are back in the Super League. They are doing well and I hope that it continues to go that way.

"No organisation is any good without stability. If you keep losing coaches and your best players, then no-one is going to succeed. Stability is everything."

Bennett also paid tribute to his Wales counterpart John Kear for his work in getting Bulls promoted to the Championship in his first year at the helm.

Bennett said: "John is working hard under difficult circumstances to create a club with young players coming through.

"When you have kids coming through, they love the place."
