IT WAS just over a year ago that Jordy Hiwula returned to Valley Parade to wreak havoc on City.

He grabbed a goal apiece with another former Bantam Devante Cole as Fleetwood picked off Stuart McCall’s Bantams with a 3-0 midweek win.

Hiwula is back again this evening in Coventry colours, fresh from opening his league account for the club at the weekend.

The striker, who scored 12 during his season-long loan at City from Huddersfield, made the permanent move to the Sky Blues in the summer.

And having taken a while to break into the side, his form is fast improving as Mark Robins deploys him wide on the left.

Hiwula said: “I’ve been showing the manager what I can do in training and I’ve just been working hard, and I knew that my chance would come.

“I’ve scored a few in my career and hopefully I can score a few more.

“I felt like I keep getting in the right positions and I feel like if I keep doing that I’ll start getting more goals.”

Hiwula’s growing confidence matches that of his team – Coventry arrive at Valley Parade on the back of three straight wins.

Since losing at home to leaders Portsmouth, they have picked off Charlton, Wycombe and Southend to move up to 10th in the table in their first season back in League One.

All three of those victories have been secured with late goals – both away wins thanks to clinchers in stoppage time.

Winger Jodi Jones was the hero at Roots Hall on Saturday after missing most of last season’s promotion campaign through injury.

It was another sub, Amadou Bakayoko, who had netted the decisive goal at Charlton a fortnight earlier, highlighting the strength in depth that Robins can call on from the bench.

Hiwula added: “We’re a team that just carries on going until the final whistle and players just keep coming on which is giving the manager a good headache.”
