SCOTT Law took the big prize as the Keighley Cougars brought a troubled 2018 to a close by celebrating the positives at their end-of-season presentation evening.

The prop forward is coming up to a decade of service at Cougar Park and was rewarded for a superb individual year by being crowned the player of the year.

Ritchie Hawkyard and Benn Hardcastle were the big winners on the night as both took home a number of awards.

Hawkyard took the credit of his peers, coaching staff and supporters with the Players’ Player of the Year, Man of Steel and Supporter’s Player of the Year accolades.

Half-back Hardcastle, who has committed to the club for another two seasons, left with the Media Player and ‘Fun Bus’ Player of the Year prizes.

Player performance manager Frank Levy was crowned the Clubman of the Year for all his efforts off the field during a traumatic 12 months for the club.

Harvey Hallas took both the first team and ‘Fun Bus’ Rising Star awards after a superb season which was cut short through injury. Fellow youngster Harry Aaronson took home the Try of the Year title for his gravity-defying effort in May against Coventry Bears.

Dewsbury Rams-bound Andy Gabriel made it back-to-back top try scorer titles after finishing the season with 18 tries.

The Reserves awards were dominated by Aaron Levy, who broke into the first team midway through the season after a superb year in the second string.

Whilst his dad took the clubman award, it will be the younger Levy who filled the cabinet at home with the Reserves Player, Player’s Player and Harold Wilson Memorial trophies.

Ben Jackson, who has really proved his worth both on and off the field to the club in 2018, took home a well-deserved reserves clubman with Keighley-born Keenan McConville taking the rising star title.

Elsewhere, the inaugural women’s award went to captain Olivia Schepisi, who has committed to the club for another 12 months, while Alan Ackroyd took the first-ever wheelchair accolade.

The annual club special recognition awards went to long serving clubman Ronnie Walker for his service as team coach driver and timekeeper and young supporters Bradley and Oliver Foulds, who have been long serving ball boys for the club since a young age.
