THE Flamingo Land Stadium was the venue for Bradford (Park Avenue) U19s, who suffered a heavy 6-0 defeat against their hosts Scarborough Athletic in the Northern Alliance League.
Avenue made a tentative start on the brand new 4G pitch and their goalkeeper George Widdop made a great save to keep the score at 0-0.
But it was Scarborough who took the lead after 15 minutes with a 20-yard strike and they made it 2-0 five minutes later with another shot from just outside the penalty area.
A coming together in the Bradford box saw a penalty awarded to Athletic but the spot kick was saved by Widdop, before Avenue tried to claw their way back into the game with shots from Josh Mayfield and Jordan Botwood.
Just before half-time, Scarborough scored a third goal to give themselves some momentum. In the second period, Avenue tired and their opponents scored a further three times.
The general consensus from the Bradford camp was that Scarborough were a very strong and well organised team.
