BRADFORD (Park Avenue) manager Mark Bower has reiterated his view that the Vanarama National League North is one of the most competitive leagues around, which means he is wary of the challenge that lowly Nuneaton Town pose his side.

The pair clash in the Midlands tomorrow and as well as Bower insisting that "everyone is capable of beating each other in this league", he believes that Town's off field issues could make them awkward opposition.

He said: "They've got severe financial troubles at the moment but I think they're more dangerous because of that

"It often brings people together and makes them stronger. I've been there with Bradford City and the football acts a relief for the players.

"They drew 2-2 with York last week and York were lucky to get a point. They've won at Curzon Ashton and drew against Brackley Town in the FA Cup too, so they've had some good results."

Bower believes that after last season's promotions, the league is even tighter than it was previously.

He said: "Salford City and Harrogate Town were both big spenders and full-time teams so with them going up, I think the talent is more evenly spread in the league."

"A good run can send you shooting up the table and a bad one will drop you right down. Most teams, even down to Southport in second-bottom, will still have eyes on a play-off place this season.

"You've got to compete in every game because everyone is capable of beating each other in this league."

Kidderminster Harriers, along with leaders Chorley, are one of the few stand out teams in the division, but Bower said Avenue could take a lot of positives from their heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to the Midlands outfit last Saturday.

He said: "We played Kiddy when I first came to Avenue two years ago and they thrashed us so to be able to go toe to toe with a team like that now shows how far we've come.

"We could have scored one or two more and we conceded with another unlucky deflection but sometimes you just have to acknowledge quality.

"Ed Williams (who scored both Kidderminster goals) is a player who won't be in this league much longer. His name has mentioned by big Football League clubs.

"We kept him quiet for 80 minutes but he came to life in the last 10. We tried to hack him down but we couldn't get near him."

Luca Havern was back in the side last week after coming off injured against Altrincham in the FA Cup while Chris Dawson, who also limped off in that clash, has featured in training this week.

Nicky Wroe and Ben McKenna both picked up minor groin injuries last week, but Bower is hopeful that both will be fit to face Nuneaton.
