LISTERHILLS A.A

Overhead conditions for the match on the canal on October 7 were almost ideal but the very cold night beforehand made fishing difficult.

BINGLEY ANGLING CLUB

Draw 9am on the bank for this Sundays match in Myrtle Park, contact Adi on 07783 332705 to book on.

Rivers are dropping nicely after last weeks rain and should fish well. The canal continues to fish well with one member reporting a 20lb net of fish from above the five rise locks.

BRADFORD CITY ANGLING ASSOCIATION

The weather has been steady this week, with rivers fining down after last weekend’s rain. Fishermen are likely to find it cool and breezy over the next few days, but with little chance of rain.

Anglers have continued to enjoy the autumnal conditions on both river and stillwater fisheries. Although we have had no reports from our stillwaters, the river banks have been well-frequented.

Andrew Bogan enjoyed a late taste of summer on the Swale at Topcliffe, reporting another good perch of around 2lb.

Our Skirbeck beat on the Ribble has seen several salmon passing through after the recent flood water, including one estimated at 30 lb. Surprisingly, few people have been fishing as the salmon season draws to a close.

However, Phil Percival and a friend fished purple shrimps and connected with fish - though did not get them to the net – and Jonathan Greenbank reported a nice sea-trout of around 7lb on a salmon fly he created the night before.

Charlie Gargrave also had a productive session on the Aire, with various nymph patterns tempting more out-of-season trout than grayling from most pools.

Further down the river, Stephen Brown had several pike in the 7-8lb bracket, on lures, with invasive signal crayfish proving a useful bait too.

Essential maintenance continues until mid-November on the main A59 bridge about one mile west of Skipton, though anglers can still access parking from Broughton Road.

Due to the works, we have moved the date of our annual Grayling Competition to Sunday November 18. This is open to BCAA members and their guests, for whom a guest permit at £8 can be obtained from our online shop.

Entry fee is £2, with all proceeds, including guest ticket monies, going to the Grayling Society.

We apologise to competition coarse anglers that the match we planned to hold at Lower Dunsforth this Saturday has been cancelled, due to the lack of a Match Secretary.

Any queries, or offers to fill the role, can be directed to Jim Munden on 07940 814431.

Finally, we are delighted to announce that our Fly Secretary, Phil Bailey, was awarded the 2018 Bernard Venables Award at the Wild Trout Trust’s Awards event on Wednesday evening.

The award is “aimed at voluntary effort and recognises lifetime services to wild trout conservation: someone whose vital work, perhaps unusual, sometimes outstanding, often goes unrecognised.”

SALTAIRE AA

The canal from Metal Box swing bridge to the Seven Arches will be closed on Sunday for the Pennine Winter League. Please can anglers not fish any of these sections until after the match.

There is a working party this Saturday on the bottom length of the river. Can anyone who can attend please help. Meet at the Recreation Centre car park on Coach Road at 9.30am.

Members are invited to attend this year's AGM on Monday, November 12 at 8pm, at the Ring O Bells, Shipley.

This is the chance for members to elect the committee, vote on propositions and to have a say in the running of the club.
