THACKLEY Ladies continued their unbeaten start to the season with an extraordinary 21-0 away win at rock-bottom Ossett Town in the West Riding County Women's First Division, as Lois Cooper netted eight times.

In scoring an incredible 21 goals without reply at struggling Town, Megan Butterworth added five to Cooper's eight strikes, while there were hat-tricks for Vanessa Holroyd and Annie Nicol.

Anna Mitchell and skipper Kath Connell also found the back of the net, as Thackley made it maximum points from their opening five games. They already have a plus 56 goal difference.

Elsewhere, Abbie Tate's brace and a good performance from keeper Sophie Woodrup were not enough as Tyersal suffered their first defeat at in-form Ripon, going down 7-2.

In Division Two, Claire Graham and Sanah Razaq were on target as Phoenix won 2-0 at Pontefract, while Thackley Reserves were unlucky in narrowly losing 1-0 to Farsley JFC Reserves.

In the FA Women's National League Cup, West Yorkshire rivals Leeds United and Brighouse Town went head to head, with the former emerging as 2-1 winners.

Sophie Stamp gave Leeds a first-half lead but Brighouse's Jen Pearson equalised 10 minutes after the break. Hannah Campbell restored Leeds' advantage before two good saves from Carrie Simpson ensured United went through.

The two sides meet again on November 11 in the first round of the FA Cup at Thorp Arch.

In the West Riding Premier Division, Brighouse Athletic lost 3-0 at leaders Hepworth, while Izzy Bibby's goal for Tingley Athletic was only a consolation as they lost 3-1 to second-placed Yorkshire Amateur.

Brayton Belles' second-half goals from Emily Owens and Leah Rogers were not enough to help them recover from being 3-0 down at third-placed Leeds Medics and Dentists as they lost 5-3.

Bradford Park Avenue's game at Middleton Athletic was postponed, as was Silsden's home clash with Wetherby Athletic.

Rock-bottom Northern Premier Division side Bradford City Women were also without a game this weekend after their long trip to face Welsh outfit The New Saints in the FA Women's National League Plate was called off due to bad weather.
