ECCLESHILL United climbed back into the top 10 of the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division with a 3-0 away win that knocked Penistone Church off second spot.

Penistone had not suffered a home defeat all season and, after a goalless first half, that record did not appear to be under any threat.

But Eagles’ debutant Tom Dugdale opened the scoring directly from a 65th-minute corner and he bagged a brace with a second 10 minutes later.

The gloss was put on the victory with a last-minute goal from substitute Khurram Shazad as Eccleshill climbed three places up to 10th. Penistone dropped down to fourth place.

Albion Sports also enjoyed a big away win as they beat fellow strugglers Harrogate Railway Athletic 4-1 with Ombeni Ruhanduka weighing in with a hat-trick.

The Albion Lions had to come from a goal down at the break after Rail’s Sean Hunter broke the deadlock against the run of play in the 28th minute. The comeback began when Ruhanduka netted a 52nd-minute equaliser.

Just minutes later, Ruhanduka added his second and Lamin Janneh netted the Lions’ third midway through the second half before Ruhanduka claimed his treble late on as Albion climbed above local rivals Liversedge and into 15th place.

Sedge slipped to 16th after a 2-0 defeat at Yorkshire Amateur, who leapt to the top of the table from third place after Penistone’s defeat and former leaders Hemsworth MW being in FA Vase action.

Jonathan Rimmington’s men played well against one of the title contenders, but the home side bagged two second-half goals. The prolific Ashley Flynn opened the scoring seven minutes after the interval and T’Nique Fishley doubled their lead in the 74th minute.

Campion edged up to second place in Division One thanks to a 1-0 win at Armthorpe Welfare. Danny Cunningham was the Red and Blacks’ hero as he netted the game’s only goal deep into the second half.

Campion are now just three points behind leaders Winterton Rangers and they have a game in hand on the table-toppers.
