DAVID Hopkin cursed City’s “schoolboy” mistakes in their 3-1 loss at Accrington and admitted: “I’m repeating myself every week.”

Hopkin’s side remain stuck in League One’s relegation zone after the Wham Stadium defeat.

Eoin Doyle scored his first goal from open play but Hopkin was fuming about the penalty that set Accrington on the way – and the errors that led to their second and third.

Hopkin was yellow-carded for his protest after Ryan McGowan was punished for hand ball in the box.

City claimed the defender was pushed into the ball – and ref Kevin Johnson made his delayed call on the say-so of an assistant that the head coach felt could not have seen the incident.

Hopkin said: “I’m going to contest that yellow card.

“Because the fourth official doesn’t see it, the stand-side linesman doesn’t give it, it’s the furthest linesman who can’t see anything gives the penalty.

“It’s frustrating and your whole team talk changes at half-time. You go in at 0-0 and you’ve got a chance.”

But Hopkin felt his players had only themselves to blame for the build-up to Accrington’s two second-half goals.

“It’s two mistakes again and we lose 3-1. It’s frustrating.

“You score a goal and you’re back in the game. You put David Ball on to try to get to 2-2.

“Then it’s one mistake again – I repeat myself every week.

“Mistakes are killing the team. It’s schoolboy stuff.”
