NOMINATIONS are now open for the fourth annual Bradford Sports Awards, which will take place at Valley Parade on Thursday, March 7 next year.

Since 2016, Bradford has celebrated sporting success and unsung heroes in the district. The awards evening has attracted over 350 attendees in each of the last three years, all turning out to recognise the efforts of players, coaches, volunteers and administrators.

With 18 awards up for grabs, people are being encouraged to nominate for any of the following categories: Young Achievers (Under-18), Senior Achievers (Over-18), Active Achievers and Outstanding Contribution. This year also sees the introduction of a Teacher award in the Outstanding Contribution category.

Nominees must have been born, lived, trained or represented an organisation within Bradford Council boundaries.

Karate star Katelyn Entwistle, who won this year's Sportswoman of the Year, members of the Bradford Barracudas Dragon Boat Club and Katy Greenwood, captain of Bradford City Disability FC Ladies, joined former Bantams star Wayne Jacobs, who is chairman of organisers Active Bradford, at City's ground to mark the announcement.

Jacobs said: “The awards mean a lot to this city. There’s a lot of people achieving wonderful things across our district and it’s only right that these achievements are honoured.

“The awards cover everything from professional to community sport; youth to adults; male, female and disability – everything that’s been achieved in sport, including volunteering.

“Whether it’s family, friends, colleagues or just someone you recognise from the media, make sure you nominate them.”
