COMING off a big victory against Preston Grasshoppers last weekend, Wharfedale coach John Feeley is hoping the Greens will show the same character to win at Stourbridge this Saturday.

"We had a very good performance against a well organised Preston team," said Feeley. "They were a very large and powerful unit, but we've really developed our game and we're building a good attacking unit."

"But the most pleasing aspect for me from the Preston game was the character we showed to put together such a complete performance.

"There were areas of our game where we could have done better, such as improving our technique in the tackle. We also got into the opposition 22 several times but then didn't score."

When the Greens travel down to the West Midlands on Saturday to take on Stourbridge, also wants to "fine tune" his side to avoid making mistakes in closing out games.

"We dominated games against Hinckley and Hull Ionians, but then gave it to the opposition in the last few minutes."

Feeley said the 'fine tuning' will be done in midweek when Wharfedale will rent out Keighley RUFC's new 4G pitch for training.

"We need to prepare on a 4G pitch because that is the surface on which Stourbridge play their rugby," said Feeley.

"The bounce is very different on a 4G pitch, and particularly in the scrum and the ruck we need to work on holding feet positions," he said. "It's doing the small things that will make a difference."
