BRADFORD City Women have had a pointless start to the season, and they parted company with manager Mark Brier after their latest FA Women's Northern Premier Division defeat, 10-0 at leaders Blackburn Rovers last Tuesday.

Meg Lawson and Toni Butcher have now joined the first team coaching staff alongside Jamie Grand, and the trio were in the technical area for their development side's clash at home to Sheffield United Seconds in the Reserve Northern Division One.

Sadly, like their first team counterparts, who were without a fixture this weekend, they are still without a point on the board after falling to a battling 4-0 defeat against the league leaders.

There was better news for the West Yorkshire sides in the FA Cup Third Qualifying Round though, as Leeds United Ladies thumped Boro Rangers 8-0.

Brighouse Town entertained league rivals Burnley in the same competition and they also picked up a win, 3-1 at home thanks to goals from Charlotte Proud, Lauren Doyle and Lindsey Tugby.

Elsewhere, Guiseley Vixens lost 4-1 to Doncaster Belles in the National League, despite Liv Auker's equaliser, while Bradford (Park Avenue) lost 5-2 at Yorkshire Amateur in the West Riding Premier Division's only game.

The Ammers raced into an early 2-0 lead and although Natalie Bell pulled one back, there were three more goals to make it 5-1 at the break. A Jade Nelson strike in the second half proved to be a mere consolation.

There were two Division Two games, as Farsley Junior Reserves won 2-1 at Huddersfield Amateur through Kirsty Spurrell and Olivia Johnson, while Thackley Reserves lost 3-2 at Durkar.

In the League Cup, Brighouse Athletic went out to Farsley Junior Firsts on penalties after Sarah Hemingway had equalised but there was better news for Silsden. Natasha Mulligan scored the only goal as they squeezed out Skipton.

Meanwhile, Thackley's dominant performance saw them progress 7-0. Some great passing combinations broke down Ilkley's defensive formation and the goals came courtesy of Megan Butterworth (4), Nessy Holroyd, Taylor Rushworth and Anna Mitchell.

Finally, Phoenix also went through at the expense of league rivals Garforth Rangers.
