CALVERLEY remain bottom of the Yorkshire Amateur League Premier Division after a heartbreaking 4-3 defeat at home to high-flying Athletico.

The visitors went into a 2-0 lead. Muhammed Qasim netted in the 30th minute before Adil Tanvir added a second from the spot. However, a quick riposte from Matty Wilson and Tom Westerman left the teams level at 2-2 heading into the break.

Qasim scored a stunner from 30 yards out but Wilson soon doubled up to bring Calverley level. The prolific Qasim had the final say though, taking one final chance with glee to complete his hat-trick.

Calverley will take confidence from their efforts, although their record now stands at one point from five games, while the win takes Athletico up to third.

Wibsey remain just above Calverley after their fifth consecutive defeat. They were level at the break against Horsforth St Margarets, but their visitors took the lead on the hour mark.

Danny O'Donnell almost equalised, but the Horsforth keeper somehow tipped his shot behind, before Wibsey debutant Ryan Hurd was shown a straight red card for fouling the last man as he streaked away.

Horsforth made the most of their one-man advantage, with a 75th minute header and an 85th minute counter attack putting them 3-0 up.

O'Donnell grabbed a deserved consolation for the hosts, while Horsforth's goals came courtesy of Callum Walker (2) and James McGurk.

Alwoodley slipped to a 5-0 defeat at Farsley Celtic Juniors. The hosts were only leading by one goal at half time but their opponents tired as the second half progressed.

Farsley's goals emanated from Louis Surtees, Craig Farrand, Danny Lyons, Joe Firth and Ben Wilson. They now lead the division with maximum points, while Alwoodley drop to seventh.

Drighlington, without playing at their best, won 4-1 at home to Stanley United to remain second. Shane Sowden (2), Harvey Booth and Carlton Binks netted for the hosts and defeat for Stanley sees them drop to ninth.

Championship side St Bedes thumped Ealandians Reserves 9-1 last week, but they put in a listless performance on Saturday to go down 4-1 at Mount St Mary's.

Jermayne Moyce grabbed the visitors' only goal, while St Mary's scored through Pat Gibbon (2), McKenzie O'Rourke and Kallum Long.

In Division One, Idle blew several gilt-edged chances in the second half, with the Golcar goalkeeper making some crucial saves to ensure his side earned a 1-1 draw.

Idle were punished in the first half for a defensive error with Alex Roberts pouncing on the loose ball and slotting home. Conor Halligan then headed in a free kick to level the scores.

The disappointing draw means Idle drop to fourth, while Golcar are now eighth.

Elsewhere, centre back Danny Kemp netted an 85th minute equaliser to earn Farsley Celtic Juniors Reserves a 2-2 draw at Leeds Medics & Dentists III.

Finally, in Division Two, the battle of the top two saw a thrilling 3-3 draw. Leaders Colton Athletic were 3-1 up, but late goals from Adam Akalash and Chris Gibbons ensured Tyersal earned a point.
