STEVE Crossley has called on his team-mates to write their name in Bulls' folklore by dispatching Workington – insisting only a repeat performance will secure the spoils following Sunday’s demolition of Oldham RLFC.

The prop forward captained John Kear’s men in the continued absence of club captain Lee Smith to devastating effect as the Bulls ran riot at Odsal Stadium on Sunday, beating Scott Naylor’s side 47-0.

The nine-try romp was the hosts’ best performance of the season in the eyes of many and came on the back of a rousing speech by the 28-year-old in the dressing room prior to kick-off.

Crossley has paid tribute to his side’s attitude and intent, admitting the fire in the eyes of his team-mates was there for all to see in a scintillating attacking performance.

“We have showed what we are capable of in glimpses across the course of the season but that was the first time we managed it for the full 80,” said Crossley.

“We saw two weeks ago how tough a side Oldham are to play against but we were ready for that challenge I could see the fire in the eyes of the lads they were raring to go out there.

“Defensively this season we have been spot on but in attack we have shown we can put on a lot of points against teams due to the attacking talent we have in abundance.

“Our efforts in defence against back-to-back sets at the end of the game epitomised what we are about and how we fight for each other.

“Tomorrow is on the horizon and we will only focus on ourselves – we need more of the same against Workington.

“The support was massive for us as a team and all I can ask is bring everyone you know, lets pack out Odsal!”

Crossley arrived back at Odsal Stadium for a third spell as a Bull prior to the start of the 2018 Betfred League One campaign.

The forward made his senior bow in the red, amber and black in 2010 having graduated from the club’s academy system.

Having experienced life in all three tiers in professional rugby league, he insists there is no greater honour than captaining his hometown club.

“I am a Bradford lad and I am incredibly passionate about this club and what we can achieve here,” said Crossley.

“This is my third spell here after playing in Super League and for the likes of Toronto Wolfpack but there is no greater feeling than representing the Bradford Bulls.

“We have a chance to re-write history. The club has had its downs but we are on our way back up and our destiny is in our own hands.”
