BULLS supporters have a huge role to play in tomorrow’s promotion decider, stressed John Kear.

Odsal is braced for its biggest crowd of the season for the League One play-off final against Workington.

Leon Pryce’s side took a large and noisy following to Doncaster for their win last week and the Cumbrians are once again expected to travel in numbers down the M6.

But Kear believes the Bulls fans will win the volume battle on the terraces.

He said: “I watched the other semi-final at Doncaster and, in all honesty, you’d have thought it was a home game for Workington with all the background noise.

“I want our fans to make sure it doesn’t seem like that at Odsal.

“They can be our 18th man and when we’re fatigued they lift us and inspire us to greater effort and also make it intimidating and tough for the opposition.”

Pryce is looking for a third win of the season against his boyhood club. But Kear is not getting drawn into the talk of the Bulls legend having a hold over his old team.

Kear added: “I don’t buy into all that. He’s coach of Workington and I’m coach of Bradford and we’ll look after our own teams.

“The people who win it will be the ones with the shirts on.”

Pryce admits it is a fairytale finish to his first year as a coach.

“You couldn’t write it,” said Pryce.

“We know we’ve beaten them twice but for me that gives them extra motivation to beat us.

“They will have an extra kick to want to beat us on their own field. We will have to be at our very, very best to get the win but we’ve proven we can do it.”

Kear was hugely impressed with Town’s performance in their 30-18 win at the Keepmoat.

Kear said: “I’ve watched the game since and Workington were very good. They were the best team on the day and have every right to be there.

“They’re deserved finalists. They’ve beaten us twice so I’ve no doubt they will be feeling pretty confident.

“We’ve got to make sure we perform as we know that we can.”
