THE auction for signed shirts worn to support former City captain Stephen Darby will end at 5pm.

City can confirm all monies raised and from other events and initiatives will be donated directly to the Motor Neurone Disease Association, at the request of the player and his family.

The club have received more than 50 bids for the special ‘Darby 2’ warm-up shirts worn before kick-off against Doncaster and Bristol Rovers.

Those who have placed the highest 20 bids - by close of business today - will be contacted from Monday to arrange collection.

Meanwhile, tickets for the Stephen Darby evening on Tuesday, October 30 are selling fast and places are limited.

More than 250 have already been secured - and David Hopkin and his City squad will also be there.

City chairman Edin Rahic said: “The response for Stephen has been nothing short of phenomenal and, having spoken to him and his representatives, I know he really appreciates the fantastic support.

“Stephen and his family would like to see all funds donated to charity and we are stepping up our efforts in order to do all we can to raise as much money as possible.

“We hope to meet with Stephen and his representatives in the coming weeks, regarding the hosting of a special testimonial fund-raising fixture.

“It is important the Darby family are allowed the privacy they require, so we will cooperate fully with the wishes of Stephen.”

Tickets for the Stephen Darby evening cost £10 and are available from the City shop at Valley Parade.
