CRAIG Nicholls struck four times as Rawdon Old Boys hammered Salts 6-0 in the West Yorkshire League Premier Division on Saturday.

The score was only 1-0 at half-time to the hosts, but they were clinical after the break, with Tom McMillan and Phillip Stansfield also getting their names on the scoresheet.

Tom Smith starred for Ilkley Town as they fought back to equalise twice in a 2-2 draw at home to a strong Carlton Athletic outfit.

He committed two defenders before laying off for Matt Whitehead to score just before the break and then netted himself with 10 minutes left, turning in the rebound after Adam Davey’s header was saved.

Wyke Wanderers were left frustrated after suffering a crucial home defeat in their relegation six-pointer with Headingley.

They were 2-0 behind at the break, and although Ryan Clay’s double gave them hope, they eventually lost by the odd goal in five.

Field meanwhile suffered a 1-0 home defeat against fellow mid-table outfit Robin Hood Athletic, with substitute Daniel Bridges grabbing the only goal.

Pool slipped to a disappointing defeat on penalties against Old Centralians, who play in the division below, in the West Yorkshire League Cup.

The match finished 2-2 and Pool’s penalties were not up to scratch, as they went down 3-2 in the shootout.

Otley Town lost a thrilling match at Kirk Deighton Rangers 4-3 in the same competition. Town went 1-0 up in the fifth minute but conceded soon after.

They let in a second on 66 minutes but responded immediately through Mitchal Lambert-Tuthill. After going 3-2 down, they hit back quickly again with a Bobby Neesam equaliser before being floored by a late winner from the hosts.

Oxenhope Recreation are bottom of Division One but they found relief with an easy 5-0 cup win over third tier side Brighouse Old Boys, with Lee Reilly netting a hat-trick.

Campion earned a hard-fought League Cup win after squeezing past Altofts 3-2 thanks to goals from Jordan Hagyard, Daniel Oldcorn and Carl Trennery.

Hunsworth are in the lower reaches of Division Two and they would have entered their League Cup tie at leaders Glasshoughton Rock with trepidation.

Their fears were realised as they crashed to a 6-2 defeat. They were 3-1 down at half-time and matters did not improve after the break.

Goals from Kieran Senior and Ryan Templeton proved to be of little consolation for the visitors.
