IT’S crunch time this week as there are no second chances for us or the opposition, so it’s the biggest game of the season full stop.

I am really pleased with how we have prepared and there has been a lot of thought gone into that preparation, how we are going to play and how we have selected the team.

Therefore, we are hoping that we get success on the back of what has been a really intense, hard-working week.

Oldham, as we saw a couple of weeks ago, are a very tough, hardworking, uncompromising side and whatever you get from them you have to earn it.

We know full well that we will be a challenge, but we also like to think we are a tough, hardworking, uncompromising side as well.

Hopefully they will feel similarly about us in as much as if they are going to get anything from us, then they too will have to earn it.

Last week we had ideal preparation with a tough game against Hemel Stags. It was a game we were expected to win but they didn’t make it easy for us.

Their completions were high, and they looked after the ball really well. That presented challenges at times, but I was pleased with how we played last week.

We put more emphasis on certain technicalities and the players did them really well and, hopefully, that will carry through to this week as well.

It was pleasing, not only for the result and the entertainment for the supporters, but also good practice for this week’s game against Oldham.

It’s coming up to the end of the season and, as always at this time of year, it is time for the award ceremonies.

Ethan Ryan picked up the Young Player of the Year Award for League One and I’m absolutely delighted for him. To score 32 tries in a regular season, you must be doing something right and as a finisher, I believe he is Super League standard.

There are other aspects of his game that he needs to improve upon but certainly as a finisher there aren’t any better and I include the Super League wingers in that.

I was a little bit disappointed that Brandon Pickersgill didn’t get it but you can’t have two winners. Brandon has been fantastic for us this year. I think he is one of, if not the most, improved players in our squad and he has played a lot of first team rugby.

To replace someone like Gregg McNally is a tough ask and, in all honesty, he has played so well we haven’t missed Gregg, and that is the biggest compliment I can give him.
