Following a successful National Championships in the summer, City of Bradford Swimming Club opened their new season at the Yorkshire Swimming Association's Winter Competition.

And nine-year-old Freddy Dean stole the limelight, producing some outstanding performances to claim gold and county titles in the 100 metres freestyle in 1min 17.28sec and the 100m individual medley in 1min 30.54sec.

He then went on to win silver in the 50m freestyle, 100m breaststroke and backstroke and bronze in the 50m backstroke.

Rounding off an excellent weekend's swimming, Freddy finished fourth place, narrowly missing out on the medals, in the 50m breaststroke and butterfly.

Twelve-year-old Gracie Beaumont, whose favoured events are the backstroke, finished in sixth place in the 100m and eighth in the 50m in times of 1min 12.30sec and 33.72sec respectively.

Matty Joe Wilson brought up the rear with a tenth-place finish in the ten years' 100m freestyle in a time of 1.16.40.

All of the swimmers train with the Leisure Services' Aquatic Development Programme under the guidance of head coach Andy Pearce and development coach Sarah Fisher.
